Flag of the First and Second Hellenic Republics

This was the official flag of Greece (First Hellenic Republic) in the War of Independence, and for 2 years after the acquisition of sovereignty. Later, it would be used again under the Second Hellenic Republic.

Flag of the Kingdom of Greece

This was the longest-used flag in the history of the Modern Greek state. The final time it was taken down was in 1978, with the opening of the Third Hellenic Republic.

Flag of the 4th of August Regime

The flag above was the one used by the 4th of August Regime, under the dictator Ioannis Metaxas during his 6-year-rule.

   • A flag similar to that of the Kingdom of Greece, but with a different crown and a slightly darker field.

Flag of the 1967 Military Junta

The Military Junta of 1967, infamous for its attempt of Enosis with Cyprus, used this flag for 7 years.

   • A flag very similar to that of the Modern Greek Flag, but with a much darker blue.
